I’m sick, sick to death of it. As a freshly’ minted American from down under, I’m sick of being lambasted by a few of my fellow citizens as anti-life.
This is how it usually goes.
“Oh, you don’t want to make abortion totally illegal? You must be a blame America first, spit on the troops, burn the flag secular socialist commie Democrat then.”Living in America Blues
Hang about. No I’m not!
This default to polarization has driven me to the conclusion that many—most???— of “my fellow Americans” don’t really want to solve this problem. And that’s frustrating because there is a solution.
In Australia every new Mom gets $5,000. No questions. No debate. Nothing. You’ve passed “go,” you’ve procreated, now collect your $5,000. Result? Fewer, far fewer, terminations per capita.
Whoa, whoa I hear you say. Stop! Stop! You don’t understand. The blacks, the Hispanics, the Puerto Ricans will breed like flies and vote us out of house (the big white one) and home if we did that.
Well that’s not what happened down under. Our Chinese, Vietnamese, aboriginal populations etc didn’t manufacture babies like sausages so they could collect their $5,000. They didn’t reproduce like rabbits so their offspring could vote for a candidate who’d provide a Cadillac for all. Poor people, you see, once they get an opportunity, have far, far higher aspirations.
And that’s the problem right there. Poverty. Abortion is the bedfellow of poverty. Especially if its accompanied by a poor education, unequal opportunity and injustice.
Do you really think it was the tired, the poor, the hungry, the huddled masses, those yearning to breathe free, that perpetrated the Ponzi scheme of CDO’s, SFI’s, CLN’s, ELN”s and all the other alphabet soup derivatives on our 401k’s????
Why do you think it is that Mississippi has three times the rate of abortion per capita as California?
Why do you think it is that abortion in many states actually went up, or down at a lower rate, during the Bush administration?
Why do you think it is that, apart from Australia, Sweden, Norway, Holland, Denmark, France and a host of other, so-called, “less Godly” socialist countries have far fewer abortions per capita?
I think I know, but it seems we Americans don’t really want an answer. How would we identify the teams?
Come on “my fellow Americans.” Let’s make abortion unthinkable rather than illegal.
Pro-life? Look at the fruits
